And as we grow, we thank you so much for all of your support through season one and season two. We promise season three will not disappoint. So today, yes, we’re diving into all things oral health. Let’s dive in.
Why Oral Health Drives Whole Health
Kim 1:41
It’s been kind of a crazy ride to talk about oral health because just in the last few weeks, I’ve had some oral health issues. Tammy, our good friend, she’s had some oral health issues. The gal that did one of our modalities on our face, she had oral health issues.
Sam 1:59
Our good friend and doctor, Dr. J. She had them. It’s just like the weakness or something, right?
Kim 2:07
So it just definitely came in that we needed to talk about this.
Sam 2:10
Yeah, perfectly.
Kim 2:11
Because I’m still kind of in the thick of it and just really navigating the way that I should be treating my oral health because it really is the beginning of your health. It’s where it starts. Right.
Sam 2:23
Right there in your mouth. So true. A lot of people don’t realize that this is the beginning of our digestive system. That trips me out. This is the entrance. This is the beginning of it. So everything after this, all the way through, it’s all connected, right? Yeah. And also the bacteria in your mouth, yes, directly connected to the bacteria in your gut.
Kim 2:42
Yes.
Sam 2:42
Candida in the mouth, candida endometriosis.
Kim 2:45
They say it’s a bacteria that’s in your mouth.
unknown 2:48
Wow.
Kim 2:48
I I’m, you know, there’s some studies out there. We can definitely pull some up, but they say that there is a bacteria in your mouth. Lime is in our mouth. You’ve got mold in your mouth. You have parasites in your mouth. I mean, me and Tammy were talking about an implant that she had that went gangrene. And when they did the biopsy and they sent it off to the lab, it came back with like 20 parasites. Oof. Anebus. No wonder. I mean, you know, and I think this particular topic, everyone has such a loud opinion. And I just want to preface this. I’m doing what’s best for me when it comes to my oral health because I have a lot of trauma tied to my oral health because I’ve had multiple problems. You know, I’ve been on a chemo and I’ve had an eating disorder. And those things cause so much trauma in your mouth. So for me personally, when I’m talking about all of this, I do feel really deeply about it. I didn’t even think twice about a hysterectomy, but I’m fighting till the bitter end for my teeth. To not pull a tooth. Yeah.
Sam 3:56
She’s like, yeah, the hysterectomy, like, yeah, they took my uterus out. That one I’m okay with. But any talk about pulling a tooth, I’m fighting for that tooth. Yeah.
Kim 4:05
I really just want people to understand that what you choose for yourself, whether it’s a root canal or extraction, implants, it’s gotta be what’s best for you. So there’s a 50-50 out there, right, where people don’t believe that root canals really need to be done. But that’s kind of a flip side of things as well, where even if you have one done, there’s so many options now for cone beam scans, which I’ve just really fell into over the last month.
Cone Beam Scans And Bone Loss
Sam 4:36
Let’s please dive into this. Because the first time I ever heard of this scan, you told me about it. I had never heard about it before. So I’m sure it’s new to a lot of people listening or watching. So, what is a cone beam scan and why is it important or helpful?
Kim 4:49
It’s a CT, a scan of your mouth, all of your mouth, and they can slice it and dice it in different ways. So I worked in radiography. I thrive on radiography type of things where you can get one view, but then you can split the view and change the view. It shows your bone density in your mouth. So how much bone do you have loss? Which that’s a big thing, right? Like you, I have bone loss in my mouth, which now I’m working really hard to navigate and to actually rebuild that bone, which is easy to do when you know about it.
Sam 5:25
What is something you’re using to rebuild your bone?
Kim 5:28
It’s a coral calcium. It actually looks exactly like what the bone in your mouth looks like on the CT scans and in, you know, in life. It looks like your bone. So I’m also using uh a probiotic that helps break down that bad bacteria that it is feeding in my mouth. So I I really suggest, and I know is becoming a big thing, the cone bean scan. And it’s because we all are just waking up to how important it is for chronically ill people. Because when you have an infection in your mouth, you don’t know really. I mean, that’s what’s so scary, is that you it can come on fast and it can cause a lot of problems instantly. And you don’t know because you’re so chronically ill. And that’s what happened with me. I had two infections in my face this last few months. And I had no idea because I couldn’t really feel it. So the scan helped identify the infections?
Sam 6:24
Yes. Now, what are some dangers about having infections in your mouth?
Kim 6:30
Well, you’re swallowing infection every time you swallow.
Sam 6:34
Going down into your system and body, but is it also affecting your brain?
Kim 6:38
It can. It can. Not every infection can go straight to your brain, but mine happened to be high up enough. Yeah, they actually wanted me to do a whole bunch of sinus stuff when they pulled the tooth. And I thought, oh man, I really need to get a few. I got five opinions. I mean, I really dug in on this one.
Sam 6:58
Not just five opinions, they were all different. This shows the importance of getting another opinion. When you go to someone and they say, This is what it is, this is what I want to do. If it’s something as serious as involving your teeth or pulling or doing any kind of like root canals or any anything like that, get multiple opinions. Yes. I had five and three states.
Kim 7:20
Wow. I mean, it just it just kept going. And I finally ended up going to a Western medicine or a western dental because he’s older, he’s my family’s doctor, my family’s dentist. And I really respected the way he explained it. He also did a cone beam scan. I’ve had four cone beam scans in the last four months because every single one of them had a different opinion. They all look the same, but every dentist that I went to had a different opinion.
Sam 7:53
So you can get a cone beam scan from a Western medicine dentist and a holistic? Yes. And a biological? Yes. They all offer it.
Kim 8:01
They all offer it. And then independently, you can get one. Not every guy has them in their office. So in the Seattle one, I had to go to a cone beam scan place. But the other two that I went to here in the Nevada area, they had them in their office, which was super convenient. They’re a couple hundred dollars. So if you have root canals and you have issues, I suggest pocketing, you know, putting that money aside for a couple hundred dollars a year, you can literally get a full scan of what’s going on in your mouth. And I have some root canals. Don’t come, don’t come at me. But I do, and you know, they really showed me exactly the technology that’s moved forward now so that you don’t have to live in fear.
Sam 8:46
But also getting a root canal was right for you.
Kim 8:48
Yeah, and at the time, that’s I mean, honestly, I was in my 20s. You know what I mean? And I already when I was younger, I had a tooth that didn’t want to come down. So I already had a hole in my my beautiful teeth. I had this one was missing, and we had to put braces on me to pull it down. And so I went in like my I was like 15 with a hole right there, and it was embarrassing. So I have a little trauma from that. Sure, you know, sure.
Sam 9:16
I have a little trauma too from when I was 12, man. I was riding on my little brother’s handlebars on his bicycle, and he somehow crashed, and I flew straight head first, face first, into a steel mailbox and my front right tooth, half of it chipped off. And of course, being 12, my first thing is like, I can’t go to school like this. And I thought you had to like save the tooth. So I like dug and tried to find it on the ground, and I did find it, brought it home, and I’m like, we need to go get this glued back on. Like a finger. Yeah, yeah. I didn’t know how it worked, you know, but I was like, don’t make me go to school until this is fixed. And then we got it fixed, and I basically got half of a fake tooth on my right, on my right front tooth. And so I’ve had that my whole, you know, life since 12. And after like a decade, one time I was at a songwriting camp in LA, and they were handing out turkey sandwiches, like the softest food you can imagine. And I bit into one and out came my fake tooth. And I was like, oh man, because I didn’t know if it was gonna last my whole life or if it’s like something you have to like get redone or whatever. I didn’t know any of that. And I had to go to a dentist, get it redone. And now, like this tooth will discolor if I don’t keep up with like going and getting a new color on top of it, it’ll stain. And if I do whitening strips or anything like that, even like the natural ones or peroxide, whatever, it won’t change because it’s like not a real tooth, you know what I mean? So, yeah, man, I’ve I got a little bit of trauma too, you know? It’s crazy. Our mouths, our mouths are wild. We have dreams about teeth falling out. Have you ever had a dream about that? Yes, it’s a big, it’s a it’s a big theme in dreams. It is. Our mouth is like a big, serious
Western Vs Holistic Vs Biological Dentistry
Sam 10:54
part of our life. So I have a question for you. What’s the difference between a Western dentist, a holistic dentist, and a biological dentist?
Kim 11:02
And there’s probably more than what I’m gonna say, but just from my own experience, is Western obviously fluoride, and they’re really, you know, to these black and white standards. They’re not looking for ozone, they’re not looking for alternative ways to assist you, which I have a bag of uh props to show everyone that I’ve learned from both sides of this. They really um, you know, they’re really stuck in that black and white, they’re not willing to go outside of the box. And then the holistic biological, they don’t use mercury, which I had mercury poisoning from fillings? Yeah, so I had three crowns that the buildup underneath the crown was amalgam and it that’s mercury, and then one of them they drilled through the crown to do like the third root canal of that tooth, because I’ve had two botched on one of them, and then I had one botched at the top, and so they drilled through and it exposed the mercury. So for five years I had mercury poisoning in my body.
Sam 12:03
Never even like thought of that connection, but mercury is a heavy metal.
Kim 12:08
Yeah, so of course, yeah, and you could see it on the inside. I have pictures on the inside of my gums, it was a little green, it was a little spot, and that’s how my holistic biological dentist saw it and was like, ooh, we need to fix this. So I had all of my crowns removed, all of the amalgam taken out, and they do a whole process. There’s you have to wear a mask, and then afterwards you take like spirulina and chlorophyll to help encase it. Yep. So you bind up any heavy metal, but it it caused like five years of mercury poisoning in my body, which just compiled onto my lime, my parasites, my mold, right? Not knowing now I’ve got heavy metals, and that’s really what made me do the metal flush because you just don’t really know where the metals are coming from.
Sam 12:59
I’m glad you just brought that up because one more question about mercury and heavy metals, and then we’ll get back to the difference between the dentists. So would it be helpful for someone if they have mercury fillings to use metal flush?
Kim 13:12
Yes, you can. Um, we use cilantro as our heavy metal detox herb. And so it doesn’t create that really crazy when you’re chelating, which is like binding the heavy metals, it doesn’t create that in the amount that we have in our metal flush.
Sam 13:31
If someone were to regularly keep metal flush in their system and use cinnamon as a binder, could that help prevent a filling to turn into poisoning?
Kim 13:43
No, because it’s already in you, but it’ll help with the symptoms. Oh, okay. So if you have had heavy metal poisoning or you know you’ve got that going on and you need to remove, remove it, but you can’t yet, it’s just gonna help with symptoms, which a lot of the symptoms I had were skin issues. And particularly around the area, I would get really crazy breakouts right here. So it, you know, it metal shows up in your body in such a weird way, but mine really showed up in my skin. I definitely would say that metal flush is not like the 100%. There are a lot of herbs. I’ve done a few heavy metal herbs where it’s more than just cilantro. But when you’re just doing a parasite cleanse like with Perify, you’re just wanting to release some of those heavy metals to lighten the load that’s holding down the worms. Sure.
Sam 14:34
So back to what is the difference between Western dentist, holistic, and biological?
Kim 14:40
So I’m gonna read it off of here. Western dental is a large corporate conventional dental provider focusing on standard procedures, insurance access. That’s a big one. Big because most holistic dentists don’t take our insurance.
Sam 14:57
Yeah.
Kim 14:57
And, you know, uh, in contrast, holistic dentists emphasize on natural whole body wellness, avoiding traditional materials like metal, amalgam, fluoride, and prioritizing biocombatible alternatives. So a lot of ozone. I mean, that’s really where I learned so much about ozone. And I actually have some really great ozone products that I’ve used during this whole thing going on with my teeth. And I love ozone. I I literally, you can inject it in a gas and it numbs and it desensitizes the area so that you can heal. Because when your body is in a state of alert continuously and that pain is there, but you don’t really know where that pain is, and you localize it and you desensitize it, boom, sure, you feel so much better.
Sam 15:47
Sure. That makes so much sense. And ozone also sterilizes and kills bacteria. So, like having ozone in your mouth when you’re getting dental work done, especially because we’ve heard these stories, you’ve told me so many, we’ve shared with the community, like all of these times that people will get sewn up. Yep. Like, you know, I got my I got my uh wisdom teeth pulled. And so I had to have been sewed up. I mean, I don’t fully remember, but I had to have been, right? So, like, if I had ozone present in the mouth while this was all happening, that prevents bacteria or all of these things from being sewn in. Yes, right? Yes.
Kim 16:23
Yeah, that’s huge. That’s what they’re doing now. Okay, amazing. You know, and back in the day they didn’t really have that. But yeah, I mean, there’s cavitations. We went to that event and he was talking about how they’re going through this whole cavitation thing. They got their wisdom teeth pulled, they didn’t realize it. There was mold and parasites in the cavitation because it didn’t heal right. You’re it all it tried to do is form a bone, heal itself, close, but it can sit for a while. And I had dry sockets. Oof, I never did. Four.
Sam 16:51
Did you like all of it? Did you smoke or did you sip out of a straw? Oh yeah, girl.
Kim 16:56
Yeah, I was not. I I actually was fighting with my boyfriend, so I was yelling. Oh. Because I didn’t smoke the whole time, but I was yelling.
Speaker 2 17:04
And I didn’t, so it just Oh, I took it so I was extra about it. I was like, I’m not getting dry sockets. Oh, they were the worst. Oh, I’m so sorry. That sucks.
Kim 17:14
Yeah, you can’t do anything, you have to pack them. So then I went through the whole thing of what it looked like to pack my teeth. And yeah, I mean, I was in a wedding in Maui, and I had this pack in my mouth. I mean, it was, and I was dating some guy, and I’m like, This is trauma, man.
Sam 17:31
It was so much trauma. Oh, take care of your mouths, people. Oral health is everything. So yeah, you were so you were telling me last night when we were talking about this. Yeah. Also, biological dentists, because I’ve never been to a Holistic or biological, but Kim has inspired me once again. And I am from here on, like, there’s certain things actually she has told me would actually be better for me to go to Western. So we’re not saying Western is out. Time and place, total time and place. Like, I need a couple of fillings on a couple of beginning stage cavities that were found in my mouth a few months ago. I have to get fillings, and then I have to get this front tooth like redone. So they’re gonna have to take it out, put a new fake thing on, and and then, and then I’m gonna get my teeth whitened, okay? Don’t judge me. Don’t judge me. I mean, 90-10, okay? I live my life 90% clean and holistic and healthy, but I leave a little space for my nails, my hair, my and my teeth whitening. Yeah, you know, like yeah. Um, but she was telling me though, for all of the other things, right? Like moving forward when I go and I get cleanings and I go and I get like I’m gonna go and do the scan. I’m gonna get that done. So I’m gonna find in LA a biological or holistic dentist. You can go to a biological and get all of that done too.
Kim 18:52
Oh. They all do their own thing and some of them do mold together. So I particularly like my new Western dentist. He’s older, uh, he’s out in the middle of nowhere because that’s where our our land is. And so he’s the one that found all of these issues. And it was, they’re all fixable. Yeah, by the way, which saved you from pulling your teeth, right? Pulling a tooth and tens of thousands of dollars. Not just, not just a little amount. I mean, it was like a fraction of the cost to have done what I’ve done. And it gave me some time. It bought it bought me some time. So if in six months it the bone hasn’t grown back and the infection is gone now, and it if it doesn’t look good, which the prognosis everyone said looked good, I went to an endodontist. So they specialize in root canals and jaws and like really making sure that you’re getting everything. I just don’t, I’m just not ready yet to pull a tooth. I’m just not there. Yeah. You know, where Jeremy was there. Yeah, he was like, yank this thing. I can’t stand it. Like, get it out of here. And I’m like, I’m not ready. You know? Yeah. I’m gonna do whatever it takes.
Sam 20:06
Like, I’m holding on to my tooth. Yeah. What?
Kim 20:08
Yeah, yeah. When you guys see everything that I do, you’ll be like, girls, you really hold on to these teeth. Totally don’t blame you. I think what was really hard about the whole process of finding out that I had an infection, which by the way, I do have two infections. One is cleared up, and the other one I’m working on, and you know, I the prognosis is good. So I’m gonna take it. I’m gonna take that prognosis of good. Yes, because um I feel so much better.
Sam 20:35
I’m so excited.
Kim 20:35
And now, yeah, right. I’m in a much different space. I’ve had to take a little hiatus. Uh, I haven’t podcasted really for a minute and just, you know, really like had to focus because I run a business and I just felt off. And even when we were talking about, oh, it could be PTSD, could be my Lyme, sure. I never really felt settled with those two things. And then as soon as I started focusing on what else it could be, like the pain popped up.
Sam 21:05
Well, think about it this way, though, too. It’s not that like those other things weren’t involved. Because think about it. Yeah, you have an infection happening, right? You’re talking inflammation, you’re talking like neurostuff happening. I mean, it was in your head. Yeah. So, all how could all of that not trigger Lyme and PTSD? And like it’s all like together. So it’s like if you already have stuff going on and you have an infection in your mouth, it can really heighten. I’m swallowing. You’re constantly swallowing it.
Kim 21:32
I felt hungry in so many, so long, and over the last couple of days since you’ve been here, I’ve been starving. Yeah, I’m on like my stomach gurning. You’ve heard it.
Sam 21:42
Yeah.
Kim 21:43
Gurgle. Yeah, like that is not something that normally happens to.
Sam 21:46
When you’re hungry, you’re healthy. I just want to say that. It’s true. I love a hungry human.
unknown 21:52
Wow.
Sam 21:52
I love a hungry human because it means you have an appetite and you have a zest for life and you’re hungry. Like, yeah, we should feel hungry.
Kim 22:00
That means we’re alive. You know, it’s crazy because when we lived in mold, it does shut that part of your brain and body off so you never feel hungry. The first time I got out of the mold, we were in Disneyland. And oh my God. You got real hungry. Oh.
Sam 22:18
Also, the like all the churro smells and like the turkey lake. I’m sure it was like, you know, stimulating your appetite. It was okay. Back to Back to Oral. Oh, oh, yeah.
Fluoride Free Swaps And Oil Pulling
Sam 22:31
So listen, guys, you know Kim loves her props. Okay. She brought props for you. We do want to talk about healthy, healthier product swaps because not sure where you’re at in your journey, but you could, no matter where you are, you know, if you are still using like crest and listerine, like there are definitely healthier alternatives. And I would say, like, the next step up from there that’s still like just as inexpensive and that’s easy to access, that you can get at Sprouts. Like I was into Tom’s for a long time. I still like Tom’s Mountain Fresh. It may not be the best, but it’s better than crest and Listerine, in my opinion. Uh fluoride-free toothpaste. I liked Hello for a while, the Hello Charcoal, the Hello Fluoride Free. And then there’s this brand that I’m on right now that I love from Sprouts called Himalaya Botanique, I think. Was that what it is? Botanic botanique, yeah. Uh Himalaya botanique. It’s like really good. It’s herbal. It’s really fresh. You can feel how clean your mouth is. I also recently have found an Ayurvedic toothpaste. It really tastes like licorice. Real interesting. Oh, crazy. Um, but very, you can just tell how much it’s cleaning. Um, also love to oil pull. So you can use coconut oil. But a cheat code that I learned on a cleanse one time is if you use organic, not toasted sesame oil, not like not toasted, but like organic sesame oil because of its color, because uh coconut oil is already like white. But if you use sesame oil and you oil pull, which is like you put the oil in your mouth and you do this like sucking and pushing uh sensation. I don’t know how to really explain it. Don’t spit in the stink and don’t swallow it. Stick it in the trash and don’t ruin your pipes. Good to know. And don’t swallow it. But before you stick it in your in your trash, if you use sesame oil, spit it into a cup because you’ll get to see all the stuff in it, and then it’ll like motivate you to do it more because you’ll see how much bacteria and stuff you just got out of your mouth because of the the color completely changes. It’s crazy.
Kim 24:32
I went viral over oil pulling.
Sam 24:34
Wow. Yeah, yeah. Good to know. I mean, you’ve gone viral over everything.
Kim 24:38
She just found out that I was part of the tree touching trend.
Sam 24:41
Yeah, you guys know the tree-touching trend, like, hey, tree, if you can hear me, touch my shoulder. Yeah. Kim was a major part of the beginning of that trend. And I just, I was today years old when I learned that.
Kim 24:51
So that’s when Jenny McCarthy and I became friends because they did it after watching and Lizzo, they all did it.
Sam 24:57
By the way, just like foreshadowing later in this season, you will see us doing it. We’re bringing it back. But let’s bust out some of your props, girl.
Kim 25:05
Oh my god, are you guys ready?
Sam 25:06
Yeah.
Kim 25:06
Okay. So I literally do almost all of this every night. So this isn’t just like, all right.
Sam 25:13
To be honest, let me just say while she gets her props out, I’ve never met anyone really. I mean, honestly, Dr. J, I would say, is probably tied with you. Yeah. Who is so serious about their oral health and their routines day and night? Like they are committed and they do a lot of things. There’s a lot of steps in their mouth routines.
Kim 25:34
Oh, it’s like for me to go to bed, I start getting ready two hours before I know I’m just gonna sit and do nothing. Because I got to wash my face and I have like a 10-step, 13-step face thing. And then I slowly do my mouth stuff. Okay, so of course, again, this is what I do at 90 10. So I really like placards. I’m kind of a lazy flosser. Um, I’m really working on that. And I’m gonna show two lazy ways, but I like placards. I know they probably have a little bit of microplastic in them.
Sam 26:08
But let’s talk about it for a second because basically, these you can throw them in a purse, you can throw them in a bag, you can take them when you’re traveling, take them to a restaurant. You can use it as a replacement or floss and night. To be honest, you just ding-ding-dinged in my head because the reason that like I don’t floss every single night is because it’s so annoying to pull the string out around my fingers and wrap around and do the whole thing. And then like you’re trying to get back there with your with your hands. So this, I could just do this at night as a cheat code. Yep. Okay, to floss. So that’s great. After meals, but also before you go to bed, you can use these floss picks, right? Yeah, okay.
Kim 26:42
If you’re not gonna do anything, do these nice Walmart, like five bucks, 10 bucks, whatever. Love it. Next, obviously, I do a water pick, okay? So I like this water pick flosser. I’ve had one that goes on your your counter and it’s a pain. So this is the travel one. I don’t know, 20 bucks, 30 bucks.
Sam 27:04
Question about this, because you gifted me one. Oh, yeah. But why how do you do it without splashing water all over the mirror and getting it all over everywhere? Because it squirts the water out. So what do you do? What’s your technique? And are you leaning over the sink? Oh, so you’re leaning over the sink and you’re letting it fall the liquid fall out as you do it. Got it. Thanks for the demonstration, Kim.
Kim 27:30
She has the most beautiful teeth, by the way. Thanks. Make sure you add half peroxide, half water. Oh. So you just fill this little thing up to about here with the peroxide, just two dollar peroxide from anywhere. Yes. Um, and then fill it so 50-50. And I use this. I really, really intensely did it when I had the tooth thing going on on the right side. Ugh, it felt so much better because it was kind of calming down the bacteria and the inflammation that was just like killing my face. It hurts so bad. Right.
Sam 28:04
This is a great alternative to like listerine, too. So in our house, we’ve been just gargling and swishing with proxide for years. We just do that and we do it to kill everything there, and you really hear it and feel it bubbling and it bubbles up everywhere. Like, but that’s so much better for your health than the listerine. The reason that I even said, and if you have anything to add to this, please do. But the reason that I I suggest uh getting rid of the listerine is because it doesn’t just kill the bad bacteria in your mouth, it kills the good bacteria too. So, kind of like, you know, the same concept of taking an antibiotic and what it does to your gut, it’s the same thing with listerine, you know?
Kim 28:41
It and it really you got to be conscientious because the microbiome in your mouth is very important because it’s what ends up coating the microbiome in your gut. So if you’re swallowing things that shouldn’t be, you know, you’re causing yourself some issues.
Sam 28:55
Yeah, yeah, makes sense.
Kim 28:57
Okay, so I recommend, you know, some peroxide, half in here. You got your water pick, travel one. It’s the best. Maybe it’s like 60 bucks. Love that. Thank you. Great. Okay, we talked about oil pulling. This is my favorite company. They come in little travel sizes so it’s not messy. You can heat them up with your hands, or you can just put it in your mouth, heat it up, and then move yourself, move it around. You do need scissors with it, but it is organic. I like that it’s coconut oil and has peppermint.
Sam 29:30
So it will leave it fresh. So it’s like after you pull. I’m gonna, I’m gonna keep this one. Sure. I’m gonna use it tonight. Okay. Yeah, this is great. Scissors. I had no idea this even existed. Oh, yeah. Oh, this is so cool. Yeah, you need scissors. Do not use your teeth. Yeah, please don’t use your teeth. So open this up. As my my mom would always say, oh, your grandma would be rolling in her grave right now whenever I pull anything with my teeth.
Kim 29:51
I don’t ever use my teeth. Okay. It’s so expensive.
Sam 29:54
Oh, right. That’s a good point.
Kim 29:56
I’m not gonna, I’m not, I don’t want to spend my money that way.
Sam 29:58
That’s a good point. And and and weren’t you telling me the other night, like your mouth is so expensive.
Kim 30:03
So expensive. Well, my mouth is very expensive. Right. Yeah. But my mom would always say, when we’d go to fall, close your mouth.
Sam 30:11
We can’t afford to fix the teeth. Oh, you mean if you were about to have an accident or you’re about to fall down, she would say, make sure you close your mouth on the way down. Oh gosh.
Kim 30:19
I’m gonna let her know what it is.
Sam 30:20
Good advice, Debbie.
Kim 30:22
But yes, yeah, my mouth is really expensive. Um, you know, it wasn’t that I didn’t do this stuff before. It was that I just had a lot of trauma going on at the time and my bones weren’t great. My wasn’t, you know, so everyone has a story behind when they have bad teeth. Dr. J and I talk a lot about it because she feels the same way. Okay, all right. Of course, we need to talk about Rogers Hood and how, even though we’re a parasite cleanse, Parapy is a game stopper when you actually have problems with your teeth because we have the clove in here in the most natural form. We removed all of that medicine from the clove, from the alcohol, processed it as a tea, and this thing can go right on the tooth.
Sam 31:12
Dude, clove on the tooth. And clove is in paraphied. Totally. So I dropped it.
Kim 31:19
Yes, dropped it. And then I would follow it up with sustain because it has oostnia in it, which is Mother Nature’s antibiotic.
Sam 31:27
Amazing.
Kim 31:28
So I doubled down on this and I just kept putting it on the infected tooth.
Sam 31:32
Yes. So parify and sustain in the mouth. By the way, sustain also doubles as a candida fighter. Yes. And the mouth gets full of candida. And you can tell that you have candida if your tongue, if you have a white coating on your tongue, right? Isn’t it called thrush? Or is that something else? Well, thrush is candida, yeah.
Kim 31:51
But not everyone that has candida gets thrush. Thrush is like an overgrowth infection of candida, right? Thrushing your tongue, which then makes your tongue raw.
Sam 32:00
What does thrushing even mean? Moving?
Kim 32:02
Yeah. Moving it. Thrushing your teeth. You’re thrushing your tongue.
Sam 32:06
Oh.
Kim 32:06
Because it’s moving. Basically, candida is a living thing that’s in your mouth that’s making you want sugar.
Speaker 2 32:13
Yeah.
Kim 32:14
So it’s like moving. Wow. And it’s moving up, and your your your body is rejecting it. And so it’s trying to thrush it out. I’m sure it’s more than that. Yeah.
Sam 32:24
So so far, sustain, metal flush, paraphy, and cinnamon. So the paraphy kit. It’s more than just parasite cleansing. So basically, yeah, the paraphy kit is so much more than just parasite cleansing. It can help with so many other symptoms and things. We talk about this all the time. It’s so much more than just that. Thanks for that cheat code. Didn’t even think about clove in the mouth with paraphy, duh.
Kim 32:47
Yep. Oh, I put it on whenever, because I grind too. So that’s another thing we’re going to talk about. Are you a grinder? I’m a grinder. I have to wear a retainer at night because I grind so much. And since I have figured out what was going on with my mouth, I am not nearly grinding as bad. My body, I haven’t drooled at night. My body was rejecting all of this. And so it was like trying to tell me what’s wrong with you, girl. Like, come on, focus over here, focus over here. So, okay. Um, I take these. I just started taking these. It’s a company called Pro Bora. It’s a bacteria that’s a healthy bacteria. So it’s a probiotic for your mouth.
Sam 33:34
Uh-huh.
Kim 33:35
So I started taking that so far. You like it? Yeah, it’s good. It’s good. It’s good. Nice. Okay, so whitening, you mentioned whitening. Yes. Boca. Okay. They have a whitening powder. This is a little controversial. I like nanohydroxy. It’s in the Boca, which is in my little bag here, because these are two different options that you can use. You’ve got the nanohydroxy toothpaste.
Sam 34:00
That’s where I know the brand from the toothpaste. You’ve given me a tube of this before. Boca. That’s right. Yes.
Kim 34:05
Boca is really good. Some people don’t like nanihydroxy or nanohydroxy. I don’t mind it. It what is it? Nanohydroxy. I don’t know. I don’t mind it. I like it. I found it to be working. My niece, who also was having terrible cavities, she uses this now, zero cavities.
Sam 34:25
She was rejecting too?
unknown 34:27
Yes.
Kim 34:28
Candida. So this can help with that as well. It can break some of that down. Now, if you’re anti-nano and you want to try something with xylitol, I like tooth and gum. They have clove in it, they have essential oils in it. They also make a really amazing tooth and gum tonic. So what these do is they help calm inflammation in your mouth. And I use these as like a prescription in my mind, right? Where if I’m having some issues and I need to kind of calm it down. So I don’t use this every day.
Speaker 2 35:02
Okay.
Kim 35:02
I use this every day, but I don’t use this every day. I use it when I’m in a flare. I use this as a flare. Sure. And so you can buy a big bottle of this, but this came from my holistic biological dentist. He he turned me on to this tooth and gum. You can buy all this on Amazon. Nice. Okay. I’m getting I’m almost done, you guys. Almost. I’m almost done. So during my huge flare that was going on with my teeth, I found this ozone apothecary company. Ozone toothpaste. Yes. I love ozone toothpaste.
Sam 35:33
I got some at Dawn’s Detox Depot. Shout out. You’ll see the field trips. You’ll see the field trips this this season. I love the ozone. It tastes and smells like ozone, of course, but I can tell when it’s going in. It is really cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing, killing bacteria. And I didn’t know all the other benefits you mentioned earlier, but yeah, I mean desensitizes immediately.
Kim 35:54
So this was working, but I I knew I needed to go find some ozone. So I found this company. This is an ozone mouthwash, and this is an ozone spot gel to help with pain. I don’t have the company, but I also like Pure O3. They’re a really clean ozone company that has a lot of ozone oil. They have uh it’s an ozone oil, like you put on your and you go like this, so it’s kind of like a gel, but you put it on your gums. And when you have crowns, you start to your your your gums start to recede. And so it helps keep that from happening. Um, they’re really ozone-y, but this company was pretty good. This company was pretty good. Okay, and then do you want me to pull out the mouth tape stuff? I want you to pull out everything, girl. Pull out all the stops. Okay, so here’s the last thing that I do, and I have a couple of different options for everyone to figure out what they might like.
Mouth Taping For Sleep And Breathing
Kim 36:55
So I have been recently, probably in the last, I don’t know, three, three years since all of this started. I have um been mouth taping and I didn’t really understand the concept of it until I did it. And so I love it. I found that my oral health is better. My I have, I used to be a smoker, so I have a little bit more of a like smoker wrinkles here. So I found this company, and they actually have a mask inside of the mouth tape. Show the camera. So you’re getting, you’re getting like biohack stacking, right? So it’s got hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and collagen inside of the actual um mouth tape itself, which I find is like so smart. Love that. Because for eight hours you’re sitting with this on, you might as well get something done. So you just this is it right here. So that’s so smart, you guys. It’s so smart because you have to put it on, right? And so this just goes over your lips, and it’s helped me with that. The only bummer part about this one is that he saimes aggravates my face. I see. Yeah.
Sam 38:10
Benefits of mouth tape for sleeping with your mouth closed and only nose breathing. What do you know about mouth breathing at night? It’s so, it’s so bad. I just don’t know why. Why?
Kim 38:21
Um, bacteria and just help your body should be breathing through its nose. So it’s retraining for me aesthetically uh when you’re breathing that way at night, you’re like this. Okay. Sure, sure. So sure. When I started mouth taping, I started getting snatched. Okay, nice. So I really cosmetically just remind myself. Sure. Because you are, you’re like, ah.
Sam 38:51
Yeah, my APAP machine, my APAP mask helps me do the same thing without mouth tape because the it’s like almost like a suction. It’s pushing so much air into my nose. I have the mask that goes over my nose only. It pushes so much air into my nose that it forces my mouth to stay shut while I sleep. Oh, yeah. So I don’t even have to wear mouth tape because of that, that APAP. Yeah. So sexy.
Kim 39:12
So sexy. Listen, those eight hours we’re getting some sleep.
Speaker 2 39:16
Yeah, we are.
Kim 39:17
I liked this one because um when the mouth tape, the queen tape, actually like bothers my my face. I use this one where it’s just keeping it right here. Oh, that’s cool. I’ve never seen those. Usually I get right here is where it bothers me because I am allergic to adhesive, but these don’t bother me. And it didn’t, those didn’t bother me for like a year, and then they started bothering me. So when I get to that point, I have to use, I’ll pivot to this one, and then I’m bummed because I’m not getting that really amazing mask. Yeah. Now I like skinny confidential. Anything skinny confidential does, I really like them. She has a mouth tape that got me started on mouth taping. It’s pretty, it’s cute. She’s got a bunch of colors now, but really like the skinny confidential. They’re pretty clean. I have those. Oh, yeah. Yeah, those are the ones I have. Yeah. And then when I can’t use any type of tape on my face, I use like a jaw holder. Oh, that’s cute. So this holds up, it goes underneath here. Yeah. And it also helps keep keep it sculpted.
Sam 40:20
It’s like wrap around your ears. Yes. Oh, nice.
Kim 40:22
Yes. So the skin gym is who I’ve started kind of getting into.
Sam 40:27
I’ve heard about them, yeah.
Kim 40:28
Yeah, so it’s like a headgear.
Sam 40:29
Nice, yeah. Yeah.
Kim 40:31
So, you know, I’ve found that, you know, my sleep hygiene. Yes. That’s really what this is, because eight hours, your mouth is closed. You know, you’re not you’re in like this state that you really need to keep your body calm and you need to go into rest and digest.
Sam 40:48
That’s right. Do what you gotta do to get good deep sleep, good REM, parasympathetic nervous system, all of the above. So let’s talk about it.
Clenching TMJ And Buccal Massage
Sam 40:57
Because when we’re in sympathetic in our waking hours or at night when we’re sleeping, the grinding and the clenching. I’m not a grinder, but I’m a clencher. Big time. And we really just found out to the extreme how much of a clincher I really am because lately I’ve been having like pain, weird pain up in my teeth and the like back molars and like in my head and little headache stuff. And I’ve always talked from the beginning of this podcast about my jaw stuff or like a rat like when I had a lot of worms before Paraphy, every month right before my cycle, I it would just be all jaw, teeth, uh, ear, throat, lymph, like this whole area just like flares or something, right? It’s gotten better since paraphy cleansing, but still sometimes you’re on the full moon. I’ll still feel it. Or when I’m in really intense work mode or stressor. So it doesn’t even have to be negative stress. But when I’m like focused and I’m like really in stress, lately I’ve been noticing using self-awareness that I’m clinching. I’m like, whoa, I’m literally like clenching down, or I’m chewing gum or something. I’m like an oral fixation type person. I like to have movement happening and stuff happening. I think it helps get my stress out, or what I’m that’s what I think it’s doing, but really it’s causing more harm than good. And I just recently am coming into this knowledge, we just went and got a buckle massage. Kim and I did. You guys are gonna see the field trip soon. We went and got the our entire lymphatic system here, our entire muscles all in our neck, our chest, our shoulders, the back of our neck, our head, our scalp, and then our jaws and internally in our mouth. We got all of that stretched and massaged yesterday. I had some wild releases, like wild. And we are gonna show you guys because we wanted to bring you in into that intimate moment to show how much trauma and stress we’re holding in our jaws, in our faces, and our jaws, and our teeth, and our mouth, and all of this area, and it just causes so many issues. So I’m a clincher, I’m aware of it now, so I’m actively stopping and interrupting the pattern through noticing and stopping and changing it. And then we learned some exercises yesterday, too, that we can do some stretches and things to help keep all this loose and not tight because it really does cause so many issues.
Kim 43:19
So many. Yeah, TMJ, TMJ, headaches, TMJ, lock jaw. Ugh. Man, I’m so glad I’ve never had lock jaw. Yeah. Oh, that would be terrible. Yeah, me too. Yeah. Oh, that would be a good one.
Sam 43:30
I mean, my body’s warning me right now. I’m just gonna be honest. Like, it’s been warning me in the past month or so, really. It’s revved up. It’s been warning me, like, hey, you gotta figure this out. Like, you gotta stop doing this because it’s starting to now, I’m starting to experience pain.
Kim 43:45
You can crush your teeth, you can crack your teeth. Like, you don’t just have to have health issues for your teeth to have issues like that. And then some dentists won’t even look to see if you’re, you know, doing. That clenching, and they’ll just be like, Oh, you just need to pull that out. You just need a root canal. You just need you, yeah, you’re yeah, and you’re like, but what else can I do to make the difference? What else is I change it?
Sam 44:10
Yep, this is where the multiple opinions come in and go to different types of dentists if you can. Because one may have an agenda, honestly. I mean, you found a good Western one, but I I’m leaving the Western dentist that I was using for a long time. Because the last time I went, instead of him like supporting what I wanted to do with my teeth, he tried to sell me on veneers. He tried to tell me to shave down all of my teeth. I have great teeth. Yeah. What are you talking about? Shave down my teeth into little spikes and get veneers. Like, no, no shade for anyone who has those. Amazing. But like if like I don’t feel like I need them. No. And so I’m like, but people would get veneers for your for your teeth to look like. So I’m like, man. So he’s trying to upsell me. And I’m like, you know, I don’t like this energy anymore. I want to go somewhere where you also inner stand and push all of the health, the the holistic, the ozone, like from a more whole right instead of like looking at it as like this is just about your teeth. Like, and that’s what you were explaining. And they really do. Right. That’s what you’re explaining to me about the biological dentist. Yeah. Is don’t they think and believe that it it’s like the help of your whole body?
Kim 45:16
Usually it’s like a holistic biological dentist. Okay, got it, right? Got it. And shout out to Michelle uh Jorgensen, Dr. Michelle Jorgensen. I have some of her products. She has really great products. Nice. Um, really natural. But the biggest thing about it is that they just don’t understand. So I went to the endodontist who really helped my tooth. And I was telling him, I’m like, normally I go to a holistic dentist, and he goes, What’s that? And I’m like, Well, they like look at your whole body that your oral care actually reflects what’s in your body care, and like they all are interlinked together. And he goes, Yeah, I don’t know about all of that.
Speaker 2 45:55
Oh, yeah.
Kim 45:56
And so of course I’m sitting there thinking, oh gosh, you don’t know about all that, and you’re about to go in my mouth. But how however, I’ve had the experiences I’ve had with holistic dentists, so I’m like willing to have this dude who specializes in why I’m there tell me what’s really going on. And of course, they didn’t want to be like, 100%, you’re gonna be fine. They were like, it’s 50-50. I’m like, I’ll take it. Yeah. So they just don’t believe that your oral care is actually holistic, connected to the rest of your health.
Sam 46:28
They think it’s separate. And it very much is. Or you would say it’s like foundational.
Kim 46:33
Yeah, it’s a found, it’s the beginning. It’s the beginning. Everything you put, you eat sauerkraut for your gut. Everything you put, it goes into your mouth first. It all does reflect upon what’s going on in your body. You got candida, it’s gonna come out on your tongue. They do reflexology. You put out your tongue. When you see a natural doctor, some of them will say, stick out your tongue. Uh, you know why? It’s because first off, they can read your tongue. Each part of your tongue has different organs. So if you got a problem going on in the front, like say you get a canker sore in the front, go look up exactly what that looks like.
Sam 47:07
Reflexology is what’s showing you for the tongue and then also a map of the teeth. Because the tooth is connected to organs in your body as well.
Kim 47:17
Yeah, each tooth. So we went and looked, and the teeth that I’m having the most problem with have to do with my stomach and my pancreas. Well, I did have some pancreas, pancreatic issues um last year, and then I do have some stomach issues. So it really, really it we’re all connected. So when the dude said that, I’m like, I mean, you’re forgiven for thinking that way, but yeah, yeah.
Sam 47:40
You’re like, okay, you don’t get it, but I know what I’m talking about. Yeah, yeah.
Fluoride Concerns And Detox Talk
Sam 47:43
Question for you Do you know why fluoride is potentially harmful to other parts of our body? And or what do you think about fluoride?
Kim 47:53
What do you think about it?
Sam 47:54
I think it calcifies our pineal gland and it makes us more like docile and asleep and not as sharp and not as awake and not as intuitive and not as instinctual. Um, I’ve experienced in my past when I used to use fluoride toothpaste, use all the what, you know, your uh eat the all-American diet and wasn’t filtering water and was just super like, you know, not conscious about any of this. I was way more dull for sure. Yeah. I was way more dull of a being. Like I was like more asleep. And I feel like since I’ve been cleansing and I’ve been doing things that support the pineal gland, I have experienced myself getting smarter, sharper, faster, quicker, more awake, more alert, more instinctual, more intuitive. And so that’s what I think. It’s, you know, some people say, and that’s your third eye.
Kim 48:44
I mean, they really don’t want us to be in this state we’re all awakened in, right? They don’t want us to be that way. They don’t want us to be healthy, they don’t want us to thrive because it could go against them, right? And so just on a side note of it all, the moment I stopped using fluoride me too, girl.
Sam 49:07
Slowly, yes, started. I’m so glad we’re on the same page. So fast.
Kim 49:11
Yes, yes. It was so fast. I was like, oh shit. Then I was like, I’m gonna get rid of the deodorant too. The aluminum. And I’m in the woods when all of this is going down. Yeah. And I’m thinking, oh, what is going on? And as soon as I stopped the fluoride, I’m talking a few days, I felt better. Yep. It’s crazy because honestly, my niece has had so many dental problems. She had to have a tooth pool when she was like 11. She seriously stopped using all of it. And I turned her onto this. I send it to her. She’s on an electric toothbrush. I make sure she replaces the head every 30 days. She always gets the boca. Ever since then, she’s had zero, zero dental problems. None. And she looked at me and she goes, I wish I would have known about this before I got the toothbolt. And I’m like, it is what it is. At least you’re young and it’s not as big of a deal. But man, yeah, it’s crazy how they want to poison us.
Sam 50:10
I’m glad we’re on the same page about fluoride. They want to.
Kim 50:12
It’s another look at how much better we are when we’re not being poisoned.
Sam 50:15
That’s right. It’s another reason to filter the water as well.
Kim 50:18
Filter the water because the fluoride’s in there. You want to make sure that you do parasite cleansing. Yes. Because it’s not just paraphy parasite cleansing. It really is purifying your body.
Sam 50:29
That’s right.
Kim 50:29
Parapy stands for parasite purify. I we Jeremy made the name. Shout out, Jerry. Shout out. We purposefully did that because it’s not just about cleaning out parasites, it’s about purifying your body.
Speaker 2 50:44
Yes.
Kim 50:45
It’s so important for you to understand that the toxins that you have to be around, and it is, you have to be around some of them. I mean, we’ve gone the last four years of really trying to bubble me in a sense. And so it’s like air filters, water filters, no fluoride, making sure our everything that we eat is as clean and organic as possible because we purified our bodies so much that who wants to go back to that?
Speaker 2 51:15
Yeah.
Kim 51:16
I don’t.
Speaker 2 51:16
Yeah, for real. I don’t.
Kim 51:18
I already have so many problems because I didn’t really think about it in my days.
Sam 51:23
Don’t add to the overflowing bucket. Yeah. Keep working on emptying it out. So these swaps, like these things that we’re suggesting, like it can totally help balance that out. And like we did mention, we’ve mentioned all of the tinctures and the binder in Parapy, which is so wild how all of them are connected to like mouth health, which I just never prior to this conversation realized that, but they are. But also the parasite cleansing part of it, it helps get the things out. The candida part of it, it helps flush these things out of your body and the heavy metals. So if you haven’t Parapy cleansed, or if you have, but it’s time to do it again, because we do all know at this point. If you don’t know now, you know, we should be paraphy cleansing three to four times a year. So seasonally, like make it a seasonal thing. But if you haven’t, or it’s time to get a new kit, you can go to Rogershood.com and use our code what’s eating you, what’s eating, and we spell it with the letter U. What’s eating? The letter U. And you can get 10% off of everything there. And these products and tinctures, you can use them individually on their own or as a full-body 30-day
Antibiotics Implants Root Canals Advocacy
Sam 52:24
cleanse.
Kim 52:24
And the lymph, the lymph kit will help flush. So I’ve been heavily using it just to keep my lymphatic system going since I’ve had an infection. And I did, I had to do a round of antibiotics because honestly, that was a big red flag to me that no one was prescribing me antibiotics but telling me how bad this infection was from their scans. And as a as a medicine person, as a healthcare provider, as someone that’s been in the field for over 20 years, I would never have told someone that they had an infection and not said, go see your doctor for an antibiotic. Never. So for me, I’m thinking, what bullshit are you feeding me that you’re telling me, oh, I have an infection, but you’re not giving me a solution. It’s irresponsible that they didn’t offer to me or at least talk with me more about, okay, Kim, this is what it looks like. It was just straight to money, and and that that’s the part that I think everyone struggles with, you know, like in my opinion.
Sam 53:32
Their agenda.
Kim 53:33
Yeah.
Sam 53:33
Yeah. Yeah. You got to find a good one. If you’re gonna find a Western one, you gotta find a good one because you don’t want someone that’s like just trying to upsell you veneers for no reason. Oh my god. You know what I mean? Or telling you you have an infection, but not even thinking like you should take an antibiotic. The in the infection’s in your body somewhere. Yes. So it’s like, and you have felt so much better after you.
Kim 53:52
So much. And they still didn’t give me an antibiotic. I found an antibiotic. I mean, that’s what’s so sad about this whole thing. So just because someone says to get an implant, because they have a strong opinion about root canals, doesn’t mean that implants can have problems as well. Tammy, our really good friend, who we’ve had, we had on season with breast implant illness, she just had some uh implants removed that had gangrene on them, and then they tested it, like I said at the beginning of this, and it came back with parasites. I think Shark Damon John, he also just had a huge amount of uh implants removed that were metal and rusted in his mouth that were causing him to be really sick. And he shows everybody how bad it looked. You gotta do what’s best for you. I mean, at the end of the day, that’s what this whole segment is about, or this whole podcast is about for us is that what’s best for you might not be best for someone else. That’s right. And implants aren’t a hundred percent a cure all either for teeth issues. And so, really, in my opinion, the best thing I can do is try and save my tooth to the best of my ability before going over to an implant. And now, you know, they have really good implants, but Jeremy’s got a little issue with his implant right now, and it’s only a year old. So, really, it’s what’s best. It is. And for me, what’s best is to try and keep as many organs in my body as possible throughout the rest of my life. And in six months, if they come back and say, listen, Kim, the bone didn’t grow. Plus, you get an implant with an infection and no bone growth, they were trying to tell me I could do a same-day implant. And now all of my research and all of the advocacy that I’ve done for myself, I’ve realized you really cannot put a same-day implant in the infection that I had. When they were cleaning and retreating the root canal that was infected, I could feel the infection draining. The whole reason why root canals are so villainized, and there’s a many more reasons than this, but in my eyes, over the last couple of months, is because I didn’t have a cone beam scan to find out exactly where this hidden infection was. And so, yeah, it was really causing me problems. And then once I realized the infections that were going on, my body started to calm down because I heard that you can get unalived by a tooth infection. So then my stress level was even higher thinking about it.
Sam 56:15
Sure. Yeah.
Kim 56:15
So I think that you got to do what’s best for you. Implant versus root canal, what is best for you and what’s best for your health. And mental health is just as important as physical health. The trauma that I have tied to all of this for me is more than I’m willing to just yank it. Yeah. You know what I mean? Because I walked in on one of the guys, and he goes, one of the holistic dentists, and he said, I want to pull all seven. Oof, all you guys, all seven. I already was going in with the one, and then I knew this one was kind of a problem. He actually said the wrong tooth was gonna be pulled. And then he goes, Well, I’m just gonna pull all three because that’s what I think is best. And I’m like, yo, guy, don’t I have any other options here? Like, you’re just seeing this sad, crying girl. But really, I’m gonna leave here and I’m gonna do my due diligence because that’s what we all try and teach you here patient advocacy, sovereignty over your own body, understanding what’s going on with your health, and making sound decisions for yourself. Because at the end of the day, you have to live with your decisions that you made and what that looks like for you in your health journey, not what some doctor or dentist says. It’s about what you have to feel and you want to do with yourself. Well said. Thanks. I’m really, I’m really upset about it. And I really feel like I wasn’t even gonna talk about this with you guys, but I’ve been really upset about it over the last couple of months.
Sam 57:51
And it’s a message that we need to get out there, you know.
Braces Retainers Anatomy And Tongue Care
Sam 57:54
I mean, we both our whole lives have been dealing with teeth stuff. I got braces when I was 14. I had them for two years only. That was great. Um, I had really crooked teeth. And I think now, knowing so much about my anatomy, I know I think, I think mouth breathing and like um having my my mouth be in that shape as a kid because I have a deviated septum. Oh, dang. Yeah, it’s official now. I got a diagnosis. I have a deviated septum. My left side, when you look inside, it’s like way more to the left. And so I think that’s why I’ve snored my whole life, even since a kid. And I think I was sleeping, and the way that I just was like, you know, it’s it’s hard to explain, but you can feel it in your own jaw and your own skull. And I can tell that just sleeping that way is my whole childhood, my when my adult teeth were growing in, they grew in crooked. I had those vampire fangs that were like way up here, and then my front two teeth were like came to like a point, they were like this, and I had some like crowding on the bottom. So I had braces. Um man, if you have braces, please wear your retainer. Oh my gosh. And if you lose it, if you lose it, please don’t make the mistake I made because I was a teenager and I was scared to tell my parents I lost it. I didn’t want them to have to pay for another one. So I just like didn’t say anything for a little while. And my teeth started to move back a little bit. And so I once I saw them starting to crowd and move back a little, I that’s when I told them because I’m like, oh my gosh. They were like, we wish you would have just told us so that our vest investment would have been protected. So yeah, wear your retainer after you get your braces off because they can shift back. So that’s important. Um, you had braces.
Kim 59:28
I had braces, I had braces, yeah. I had braces two different times. I also have weird anatomy in my mouth. I found out that I have four roots in my molars, which is why this one got infected, because I only they only did three, and it was like 15 years ago. And I remember when I got my second set of braces, there was this weird bump on my gum and right above that tooth. And so I had braces 15 years ago, and that bump was there because they missed an entire root that was infected. Wow. So for 15 years, I’ve been chilling with that. But I found that the first round of braces that I had was just to pull a tooth down, and so it wasn’t to straighten my teeth. My parents didn’t, they they were like, Your teeth are great. Well, I really wanted to have the straightest teeth possible. Which you do now. Yeah, I have really great teeth now. And I and I I did back then, they were just the the front two would pop out a little bit more. Um, but I did it, and I’m so grateful I did because I had terrible TMJ. And I researched how braces can pull your jaw forward with rubber bands specifically, and it it helped my TMJ. Like I don’t have the same TMJ problems that I had when I got braces, and the dentist said, or the orthodontist said, uh, this isn’t something that’s gonna cure it. And I was like, I’m gonna make sure it does. Yeah. You know what I mean? I’m gonna make sure that I’m gonna do everything I can, and I never miss my retainers. I never, I’ve only missed one night the entire time I’ve had retainers.
Sam 1:01:08
The rubber bands with the braces also helped correct my overbite. So they definitely move a jaw, I had a slight overbite, and they do move the jaw forward. It’s really helpful for that. But if you don’t need something like that, but you want to straighten your teeth, Invisalign. Yeah. I know people who have used that and have had success with that. You just gotta be patient and like deal with the pain too. Just like if you have braces, you know, it it it hurts to move your and shift your teeth around.
Kim 1:01:34
I use Invisalign as retainers. They’re the they’re the lowest toxic type of plastic in your mouth. Because, you know, 90.
Sam 1:01:46
One more thing I do in my teeth routine morning and night that I love, and my whole teeth routine doesn’t feel complete unless I do this is tongue scraping. I do it with a copper one to balance the pH of my mouth. But if I don’t get the stuff off my tongue when I wake up or before I go to sleep, I just I can’t I don’t feel complete. Like I have to do that. It has to be part of it. And uh only if you do do it, only do it from back to front. Do not scrape backwards because the way that your taste buds and all the bumps on your tongue are, they’re only meant to be it go forward, not back. It’ll hurt, it can hurt them. So that’s mine. I know you have a different viewpoint on scraping, so you can share yours.
Kim 1:02:32
Well, what else do you do? And then I’ll share mine. What else do you do for your oral care at night?
Sam 1:02:36
Uh I brush every I brush every morning and every night. I tongue scrape and I do mouth rinse and peroxide. Nice. Um, I floss a lot, but not every single night because of the wraparound and it’s a whole thing. And sometimes I don’t feel like digging in my mouth with my hands. But I’m gonna start using the Yeah, that’s the chi code. Yeah, I’m gonna start using the every night.
Kim 1:02:56
Listen, if you’re not gonna floss, you should at least water pick. And it’s so simple. Like I don’t even know.
Sam 1:03:00
The water pick, I’m gonna totally implement it.
Kim 1:03:02
Yeah, the water pick is the chi code if you don’t want to floss, especially if you eat like me, because it gets the it gets stuck. It’s not your teeth that go bad, it’s the gums around it from the bacteria. That’s what starts eating your teeth away and causing further problems. So, I mean, your teeth can have issues, but really it starts where your gums are.
Sam 1:03:24
Nice.
Kim 1:03:25
I use the Sonic Hair electric toothbrush, and they’ve got a tongue uh brush. I have Epstein Barr virus, it’s not active right now, but when I get into a flare, it becomes active. And so I have been told just to be conscientious to not use the scraping for my top. Right. If you if you are in an active flare, and sometimes I don’t know, there is a thing called EBV tongue, and it’s where your tongue is really thick and your taste buds stand straight up. And I have that. So I know when it’s coming on because my tongue shows it. So I And if you were to scrape while they were sticking straight up, it could damage that and hurt. So if you can find a tongue brush and they have them with Sonicare where it’s an electric brush. And so I I would say that that that would be for me better than the tongue scraping. I’ve tried to tongue scrape, I’ll be honest, and I gag every time I can’t get it down. So when my dentist, my biological holistic dentist said, you know, it’s I don’t really recommend it. I really recommend you using this brush. I’m all, hell yeah. Yeah. I don’t want to do it in any way.
Sam 1:04:39
Yeah. So again, what works for you? Because it’s the same concept, and you’re still getting this stuff off of your tongue, but in the way that works best for your body. Yeah. So that’s great. I want to circle back one more thing. I want to circle back around to the lymph kit because you mentioned the lymph kit. We yesterday went and got the buckle massage, and we got so much lymph moving that this morning I even could see a couple bumps pop up where my lymph nodes are on my neck, and I can tell that my lymph got flushed yesterday. But it’s just really good reminder to use the lymph kit as a support for lymphatic drainage. So anything to do with jaw, like if you go and get a fascia massage, a buckle massage, any kind of fascia release, anything that has to do with like breaking up the fascia and loosening it up or flushing your lymphatic system, lymph kit. Lymph kit is such a cheat code to assist in drainage. It helps stimulate drainage in your body. So lymph kit available at Rogershood.com as well. And you can use our code What’s EatingU, what’s eating in the letter U. 10% off.
Kim 1:05:39
It’s really a great kit.
Speaker 1 1:05:40
Yeah.
Kim 1:05:40
It really is. I’m pretty proud of that one. You should be. It’s very supportive. And it’s not a cleanse. Like you might have some die-offs because the sustain has antiparasitic in it, which is Oregon Great Root, but it also has peppermint in it. So that helps with that microbiome in your gut. It helps, it has oosnia, which helps kind of push some of these bacteria that’s going on. I mean, overall, it really is a great. I mean, you can’t go wrong with lion’s mane, turkey tail help boost your immune system. Like it’s really an overall.
Sam 1:06:12
We love it.
Kim 1:06:12
Yeah.
Sam 1:06:12
We love it. Yeah.
